Gerald “Jerry” Lewis PT

Bio
Gerald “Jerry” Lewis Sr. attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Down State Medical Center and his Masters’ degree in Education from LIU. He has also been an adjunct instructor of physical therapy programs at Columbia University, Kean University, and Seton Hall University.
Prior to joining Twin Boro, Jerry practiced at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation as a physical therapist, clinical specialist, administrator, and out-patient Clinic Director. In 2004, Jerry joined the TwinBoro Physical Therapy team as the Clinic Director of the Union site. Jerry has worked with a broad array of patient issues from general and sports orthopedic, spinal cord injuries, neurological, amputee, pre/post-surgical and currently is also involved in rehabilitating the injured industrial athlete.
Jerry has taken numerous continuing education courses that cover manual therapy, neurological rehab, spinal cord and amputee rehab and sports/orthopedic rehab and is a Certified Rolfer (Structural Integration), Adult NDT practitioner, education and APTA clinical instructor
When treating patients or managing other therapists, Jerry implements Twin Boro’s One2FourTM Care Model to determine the “right level of health care” for each individual. This unique approach looks at the entire episode of care for the patient or athlete. This ranges from a relatively low level of function a patient might experience post injury or surgery all the way through to the peak performance required to return to their prior or preferred level of function. Therapists that skillfully combine manual therapy with evolving functional exercise along the One2FourTM continuum strive to achieve the individual’s “meaningful goals” and “desired outcomes”. This approach has allowed him to effectively work with and treat NYC Broadway stars and professional NBA/NJ Nets players.
“During his spare time, Jerry likes to stay healthy by working out, biking and weight training for total body strength. He also likes to play golf for relaxation and fitness walking the course and carrying his golf bag.”
