Marios Christodoulou PT, DPT, MS

MY HOBBIES: Outside the clinic, Marios is a world traveler, family man, soccer enthusiast, runner, and avid reader.

Marios Christodoulou, PT, DPT, MS, is a distinguished physical therapist whose journey into the field was sparked by a profound passion for health and sciences. His diverse background in medical research and teaching, coupled with a pivotal moment observing physical therapists at work, solidified his decision to pursue a career dedicated to health and rehabilitation.

Educated at the New York Institute of Technology with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, Marios furthered his expertise with a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Post Long Island University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stony Brook University. His academic journey is marked by a commitment to excellence and a deep understanding of the human body’s complexities.

Marios’s professional path is characterized by significant leadership roles, including serving as the Clinical Director of Physical & Occupational Therapy at both Jersey City Medical Center and Newport Rehabilitation Center. His dedication to education continued as an Adjunct Professor of Gross Anatomy for NYIT Physical & Occupational Therapy students.

In 2017 while working for Twin Boro Physical Therapy, Marios took on the role of Clinical Director at Jersey City Medical Center, a position he held until 2021, simultaneously leading Newport Rehabilitation starting in 2020. His commitment to lifelong learning is evident in his continued education, with courses in Kinesio Taping, concussion strategies, joint therapy for athletes, and diabetes management in therapy.

Specializing in sports rehab and treating ‘Weekend Warrior’ injuries, Marios has a particular interest in the adult population. He frequently addresses conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, Ankle Sprains, Patellofemoral Syndrome, Joint OA, Bursitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, DeQuervain’s Tendonitis, Golfer’s/Tennis Elbow, RTC Tendinitis, Shoulder Impingement Syndrome, Lumbar and Cervical Radiculopathy.

Marios’s approach to patient care is holistic and collaborative. He leverages his extensive background to educate and empower patients, ensuring they are active participants in their rehabilitation journey. True was great. I had a partially torn muscle in my thumb and he helped me recover, both in the clinic and with at home exercises. When I first started physical therapy, my thumb was splinted and had no range of motion. By the time I left, my thumb was back to full use and was fully recovered! Highly recommend. I highly recommend Strulowitz & Gargiulo's Twin Boro location. The space is relaxing and calm. The therapists and their assistants are attentive and show great respect to their patients. After five weeks of therapy with Caroline, my pain has lifted, and I am much more flexible. She taught me exercises to strengthen my back and core and has the sensitive hands of an artisan when it comes to working out those knots. The front desk staff is warm and friendly and works with your schedule. All five-star professionals. If you need physical therapy, this is the No. 1 place to go in Hudson. They are FABULOUS.

Caroline and Sandy have been the best PT providers for 20+ years and my recent shoulder surgery reveals that has not changed, in fact they are still improving. My injury was mis-diagnosed by Dr.'s, but Caroline caught it immediately and sent me for an MRI. Sure enough, she knew exactly what was wrong, helped me select the correct surgeon and prescribed a PT course pre- and pos-op that has me back in the gym and lifting weights for the 1st time in 3+ years.Whatever the injury, whatever your Dr. said, go see Caroline and Sandy ASAP to get back to life.

I could not speak any higher of this office and especially the one and only Sandy. I was in extreme pain from dealing with a sudden disc herniation in my lower back. She not only knew exactly what to do right away to quickly help me get back on my feet but also gave me the mental confidence that everything will be ok and that I will be healed. For anyone who experiences sudden loss of mobility one of the most challenging things is overcoming it mentally. She was supportive and helped me gain my confidence back. I’m a 59 year old women who unfortunately developed frozen shoulder in both shoulders. Surgery was needed for my left shoulder which I had in The Hospital For Special Surgery. My right shoulder started soon after my left but luckily was able to be treated with PT as was my left after surgery.This was my first time receiving PT and I’m happy to say it was a positive experience. I attribute it completely to the amazing care I received from Sandy. The last year plus have been the most challenging time for me health wise. It took a while to figure out my condition as it was complicated due to hyperparathyroidism. From the start straight through the entire 11 months I never doubted Sandy’s treatment. Throughout my PT I felt with her I was going to get my mobility back and I did. Sandy’s impressive knowledge, patience’s and kindness is very much appreciated by me and my family.

I had the IT band issue developed during Covid due to lack of activities the last two years. For a while I couldn’t figure out my left leg mobility issue. Sandy is truly amazing at what she does! I honestly thought physical therapy was a waste of money and it wasn't going to help my knee BUT I was 100% wrong! I highly recommend Twin Boro for your physical therapy needs. The entire staff here works as part of your team, from the helpful administrative staff to the therapists. You can tell that the staff in this office cares about your recovery and how you feel. They are skilled and knowledgeable. Caroline was my therapist. She acts as your experienced partner in rehab and guides you through recovery so that you can return to the lifestyle activities you had before your injury. Caroline is intelligent and empathetic and provides personal attention. She constantly touches base and checks up on you, always observing how you're progressing to ensure that you are optimally working on your exercises and using good form. Caroline also adjusts the pace so that you are challenged, but not struggling. I am delighted with the results, and Twin Boro will be my go-to spot for PT if the need ever arises again.

I've been going to Craft for several years for ailments ranging from shoulder / rotator cuff issues to elbow and knee tendonitis. Given my schedule I've mostly worked with Sandy but they are both (Caroline is the other) outstanding and knowledgeable physical therapists. This is not a "chain" P.T. group and there aren't any "assistants" that do the work, it's either Caroline or Sandy so there is personalized attention at all times. I highly recommend them!

As painful as the PT process was for a TKR, I always left feeling better and stronger. Sandy got me on my feet and back to work 2-3 weeks after a total knee replacement! My son has worked with Sandy at Craft Physical Therapy on and off for several years. He started with her when he was 4 and last worked with her when he was 8. I highly recommend her services, as she is a pleasure to work with and has resolved his physical difficulties each time we have gone to her. I've done pt for two seperate, several month long sessions and worked with both Sandy and Caroline. I had a great experience, enough I went back the second time! Both staff are very kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Hours and scheduling is very flexible. They worked with me around my doctors prescribed plan to get me back in the gym and doing other activities like rock climbing and yoga. I was able to get advice not only for pt exercises but also how to tailor my ongoing workouts around my future maintenance.I've recommended Craft to friends before as well.
