Our Experienced Clinical Team

Lawrence Pemberton DPT, PT

Lawrence Pemberton graduated from Kean University with a B.A in Biology.  He continued on with his education at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee where he received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2011. Following graduation, Lawrence worked in Nashville as a therapist for Star Physical Therapy, Pinnacle Surgical Partners, and Nashville Sports Medicine where he gained immense knowledge in a multitude of settings ranging from long term acute care to outpatient orthopedics.

Lawrence joined Twin Boro in April 2015 and has advanced to be the Clinical Director of the Millburn facility. He utilizes a hands-on, manual therapy based approach to all of his patients from pediatric up to the geriatric population.  Lawrence’s passion for running marathons has helped him gain knowledge the treatment protocol needed to address the specific and often overlooked mechanics and stresses that running places on the human body.

Since graduating from physical therapy school, Lawrence has had the privilege of studying a variety of treatment philosophies such as Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Maitland, McKenzie (Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy), Mulligan Joint Based mobilizations. He is currently pursuing his Certification in Integrated Manual Therapy. Lawrence understands, that one cannot just treat pain, but to have lasting success, underlying movement disorders and dysfunction need to be addressed.

When treating patients or managing other therapists, Lawrence implements Twin Boro’s One2FourTM Care Model to determine the “right level of health care” for each individual.  This unique approach looks at the entire episode of care for the patient or athlete. This ranges from  a relatively low level of function a patient might experience post injury or surgery all the way through to the peak performance required to return to their prior or preferred level of function. Therapists that skillfully combine manual therapy with evolving functional exercise along the One2FourTM continuum strive to achieve the individual’s “meaningful goals” and “desired outcomes”.
