How is Ultrasound Therapy Applied?
Ultrasound therapy is performed with an ultrasound machine with a sound head, also known as an ultrasound transducer. For this, a small amount of gel is applied to the area of interest, and the physical therapist will move the sound head in slow, circular movements around the site.
Ultrasound machines contain multiple settings that create ultrasound waves of varying intensity. This is so that the waves will reach different depths of tissues and can be used differently depending on the stage of healing.
