Michael Borst, PT, DPT, CSCS

MY HOBBIES: Outside the clinic, Michael enjoys golfing, football, spending time outdoors, and being with his dog, family, and friends.

Michael Borst, PT, DPT, CSCS, is a dedicated physical therapist with a passion for sports rehabilitation and performance training. His journey into physical therapy was shaped by his own experiences as an athlete, having sustained football-related injuries that fueled his desire to help others recover and excel.

Borst earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in Miami and holds a B.S. in Exercise Science and Applied Kinesiology from Rutgers University. His background in strength and conditioning allows him to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and peak performance, ensuring his patients receive well-rounded, high-level care.

Before joining Twin Boro Physical Therapy in Martinsville in April 2023, Borst served as a Clinic Director at a sports physical therapy clinic in New Jersey, where he specialized in the treatment of orthopedic and sports injuries of all types. In addition, he provided treatment for professional football players across 25 NFL teams in Miami and was part of the rehabilitation team for NFL Combine Prep, helping elite athletes optimize their recovery and performance.

My experience here was terrific and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in need of physical therapy. Unfortunately, I've had to have physical therapy previously for different injuries - and I have to say that I have never received the type of great care at other PT offices that I received during this last series of sessions at Twin Boro in Martinsville. The attention given to each patient is sincere and thoughtful. I was lucky to have Dr Arav Shah as my therapist - (highly recommend) - though I felt well taken care of by all of the therapists I may have worked with during my year of treatment. The program developed for me continued to evolve to meet my changing abilities as did my treatment options. I never felt as if I was just coming in to go through the motions--I was being treated. The staff overall is very friendly, caring and I appreciated the demonstrated flexibility in scheduling I often needed because of my personal calendar. Twin Boro's Martinsville is the best PT place I've been to. Starting with Elizabeth who helps you deal with your crazy insurance issues, each member of the staff is professional and attentive. I started PT in January of this year and I knew it was going to be a long, hard road. It was a challenging experience for me and the wonderful team of therapists and the assistants. I have been in a walking boot for 20 years and have been in terrible pain. I use a cane, and when I first started I was using a walker. My foot doctor had a brace made for me and I was very uncomfortable. But with the help of Heather, Arvi, and Ryan they helped me to get me more comfortable, exercising and support has been amazing. Thank you all!! Too the therapy assistants, and Elisabeth and Ryan in the office, you’re encouraging smiles were the best. I would recommend Twin Boro in Martinsville to anyone. ⭐️

Twin Boro in Martinsville is absolutely amazing, I started in April because of a shoulder issue, after a few sessions with Arav he said please go back to the dr and it’s a good thing I did because I needed a complete shoulder replacement, I went for pre pt which helped me so much with pt after , I’m 4 months post op and have almost complete use of my shoulder, my doctor is extremely pleased and complemented my therapists . From the first minute I walked in I felt valued and respected, they always listen to me and work through my aches and pains . I also love the way all the therapists Arav , Michael and Sebastian work together and help everyone especially the assistants. I would give this place 10 stars if I could

I have had PT post surgery before, but the team at twin boro in Martinsville was unmatched. From Elmo in the office to each of the therapists. I mainly worked with Mike and Rav, they worked together to get me back on track. The team doesn’t take a copy paste approach they look at each injury differently and work to the goal of the patient. Recently they did dry needling for my shoulder injury and I noticed an improvement in mobility and pain. I’m beyond grateful to work with the twin boro team.

I have been working with Dr Mike Borst and Dr Arav Shah to rehab a knee injury. They and their staff are extremely knowledgeable and clearly communicate both short and long term recovery plans. I workout on-site at both Test and Pratt, and they help advise my trainers on complementary workout plans to assist in my recovery. Recently, I started to receive dry needling as part of my program. Dr Mike clearly communicated the process - what to expect, listened to the sensations I shared that the process was creating in my leg. I look forward to future treatments to aid in my full recovery. Also, the office staff is extremely helpful in addressing billing and scheduling of appointments. 5 stars to the entire team!

I have been working with Dr. Mike for the past few months to rehab calcific tendinitis in my shoulder. This injury was a result of a long term elbow injury. Mike has taken the time to creatively come up with a rehab plan to work through both issues. He recently starting implementing dry needling to my program. The dry needling has shown incredible results in a short period of time. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Mike, Colin, Arav, Elmo and the full Twin Boro team. They have great bedside manner and each have played a role in my treatment. I would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a great PT team!

I have recently been treated for shoulder pain at Twin Boro in Martinsville and I highly recommend it. My son is also being treated for a sports injury here and I can't say enough about how knowledgeable and caring the Physical Therapists, Mike, Arav, and Sabastian are. As director, Mike really sets the tone of a welcoming environment that is serious about the quality of care but also fun. I saw patients of all ages being treated, from younger children with sports injuries to seniors needing more mobility for better quality of life and everything in between. The aids are all great, all on the track to becoming PTs as well. Colin, Will, Sam, and Eva were especially great to work with.Last but definitely not least, Elizabeth, the office coordinator, is the glue that holds it all together in terms of scheduling and paperwork. She worked tirelessly with my insurance company so I didn't have to, advocating for me and making sure I got the visits I was entitled to. It was a great experience for me. I will definitely go back if needed.

I am very surprised & happy with result under Dr. Mike’ treatment. When I came to this twin boro martinsville at beginning of this yea, my neck only can turn very small angle, it has been like that for many years due to neglected care. During each session, Dr. Mike first use heat pad and stimulation equipment to loose my neck muscles then use his hand work on my neck, recently add machine to pull my neck . Afterwards I have to do some prescribed exercises under his assistant guidance. After twice a week for half years treatment up to now I can fully turn my head on each direction, I couldn’t be more thankful to Dr. Mike.
